Like Granny it was Andy’s dad Geoff that ensured that he had a rod in his hand at a early age. In fact Geoff and Dave’s father Ron were fishing mates and competed against each other in there respective SQAFCA clubs, Geoff with Victory and Ron with Shell. This is where Granny and Orry also forged a friendship at the ripe old age of 5.
Still mates nearly 50 years on and now business partners at Caloundra Fishing World. Andy was good at most sports as a young bloke but fishing was his true passion. Any fishing magazine he could get his hands on was absorbed with gusto. Andy travelled the world before settling down back on the Sunshine Coast. He worked for Gary Howard building rods, Hooper’s Tackle in Brisbane and the old Fisherman’s World (now Tackle World) at Kawana. He was a born salesman with the gift of the gab and the knowledge to back it up. Nothing has changed there.
Orry and Granny are the perfect pair to run a tackle shop. Both have their unique skill sets but both have knowledge across all forms of fishing. Orry is also the face of Lure of the Week!
